Is this oil alright for a GN250?

Discussion in 'General Motorcycling Discussion' started by deXtrous, Jul 15, 2011.

  1. Hey folks, I recently bought a gn250 and was doing a bit of maintenance. I've never had to buy motor oil for a bike before so I went to supercheap and picked up some of this,

It's a 4 stroke 10w-40 oil. On the filler cap it has 10w-40 on it so I know it's the right viscosity(?) but it says for high performance bikes.. The gn250 is definitely not that.

What sorta oil should I get?
  2. That would do it.
  3. I use that on my VTR250. No problems yet (except when I didn't tighten the oil filler properly and it came out while riding.
  4. Castrol 4T, just the regular stuff. $36 odd dollars for 4 litres from Supercheap.
  5. For a GN, I would buy the cheapest motorcycle oil that I could find. Changing it regularly is more important.
