inner west mobile mechanics - broken ignition barrel

Discussion in 'Businesses and Service Providers' at netrider.net.au started by msheahan, Nov 12, 2008.

  1. Someone tried to steal my GPX250... they weren't successful, but they've left the ignition barrel so damaged that I can't turn the key. The steering lock is still on, so it can't be moved easily. This probably saved it from being stolen, but it's a sitting duck too.

Can anyone recommend a mobile mechanic around Glebe? Or is it reasonably easy to remove the steering lock?

  2. dude, read my mind. I'm in the exact same boat with a ZZR. However i can turn mine from "on" to "park" which leaves the tail light on and engages the steering lock.

soon as i find someone i'll let you know (and vica-versa).

EDIT: just realised you are from sydney. Good luck.
  3. i cant recomment a mobile mechanic but i can recommend you this link
  4. Paul from Glebe Point Locksmiths (blatant plug, he did a good job!) had a look... he removed some of the face from the ignition barrel, and that was enough that I can use the key again.

I've got it booked to get it fixed properly, but at least it's usable now.

    Cheers guys
