Ideas on attaching cams to helmets

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by gsxxer, Feb 13, 2011.

  1. So I have a small camera to attach to the top of my helmet, but Im a bit stumped on how to make a non-permanent mount. I know helmet manuals state using chemicals on the helmet is a big no-no, but its tempting to epoxy a mounting plate to the top.

Suction caps? Any pics or other ideas?
  2. http://pointofviewcameras.com/mount-adhesive-contourhd.html

Those are used for the VholdR and contour camera flat surface mounts. That's the
mount I use for mine on my helmet.

The adhesive pads eventually lose their stick and so are removable. I'm sure some metho or wd40 would remove it quicker.
  3. What type of camera is it?
  4. 3M VHB 4991

Will stick anything to anything (just about). The same tape that the GoPro mounts come with.

Also comes off easy with some heat applied and the residue is easy to clean off.
  5. GafferTape05A.

Or, if you want it to be removable, get some industrial Velcro.
  6. Is this about these overhead cams I've been hearing of for years?
  7. Its a generic bullet style camera.

Putting it on top of the helm would seem to give the best view.

Ok looks like Ill be gaffer taping away.
