Ideas for GPS in the UK?

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by Rip, Apr 16, 2013.

  1. I'm off to the UK in a few weeks for a wedding (inlaws :grumpy: ), and will be hiring a car for a few weeks. As the title says, does anyone have any ideas for an in car GPS navigator with UK maps that would cost less than hiring one (£180) or purchasing UK maps for a second hand GPS unit (~$250)?

  2. You can pick up a cheap GPS almost anywhere over there and they are all fairly good
A cheap tomtom will do the job easy
  3. Smart phone? Spend 20 quid on a uk pre pay Sim card for data.
  4. Are there data only pre paid sims? Not a bad idea, but I don't own a smart phone at the moment. So its a toss up between an ebay phone and cheapy tomtom...

    Ta muchly
  5. You'll find a lot of people have an old iPhone in a draw. Ask a few mates. Not sure about UK phone plans, you'll have to do some googling on that front.
  6. Leap on to eBay UK and buy a cheap used GPS with pommy maps already on it. When you come back stick it back on eBay and get your money back.
