Hi all, I’ve been trawling the forums trying to find a solution to a problem I have with my bike. I’ve read similar problems but not on a carburetted model. I’ve got a carburetted 2008 Hyosung GT-R. I was riding back from Phillip Island and after 500km my bike started to surge and splatter and then it completely died. I pulled over and waited about a minute, and tried to start it again. I noticed it happened when the bike was under load (Uphill). The only way I could start it was with the choke on. Once it started, I put it into gear and rode a little further until it stopped again. I went through the same procedure until I got to a service station. I emptied the tank and filled it with good fuel as I though it was a bad fuel problem. The next morning, the bike started fine and it went the rest of the way without a hiccup (400km) and I was giving it heaps while it was under load (Uphill). I thought the issue was bad fuel until I tried to ride it to work this morning and the same thing happened whilst under load (Going up Mt Ousley). It stuttered and surged and then came to a complete stop. I got it going again with the choke on and could finally turn the choke off when I was going downhill. The issue didn’t happen again at all while going downhill and on flats. I live on top of a 1km hill and it didn’t happen when I rode the bike home. Just wondering if this has happened to anybody else with a carburettor model and if so, what was the fix? Any help appreciated.
