How to repair scratch on matte surface?

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by wilkie, Oct 25, 2013.

  1. Hey everyone,

I am new here - Name is Chris, live in Melbourne and a first time rider!

I am about to buy a 2012 Ducati Monster and there is a scratch about 4 inches long on the right panel of the fuel tank cover. It isn't a deep scratch, but I can see white from underneath and I am wondering how much it could cost to fix something, and if it's even fixable? The area is matte black.

I want to ask him for a discount and get it sorted myself but have no idea what kind of discount to ask him for...

    Many thanks for any help!
  2. If its a panel that u can easily screw off then I would say a paint shop could paint it for maybe $150 ish. If u take it in let the shop know u will pay cash and don't need a receipt as that's the cheapest way.
  3. Also, here's a really good tutorial I followed when I scratched my energizor cover on the engine. It's come up fantastic and I still haven't done the cut n polish yet. Can't even tell it was scratched in the first instance.
