How to calibrate a speedo

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by Zbike, Aug 29, 2007.

  1. Hey my speedo is reading a good 20% over.
Could someone give me the lowdown on how to calibrate it.
    any specail tools?

Ive taken it apart before might have knowcked something outa place.

Just to clear it up its a 87 gpx and running a standard tyre/rim.
cable and spedo gearbox are fine aswell. only leaves the spedo unti
  2. if its digital, you can get a speedo healer.
You need to know the number of teeth on your front and rear sprocket. Size of your rear tyre and bingo, spot on speedo!

If cable your are a bit limited on choice.
One way is to get an accurate GPS and make a speedo card (match dial to GPS speed).
  3. hmmmmmmm :?
  4. You may have a speedo gear drive or speedo guts that is for a 17" wheel instead of a 16" or vice versa (too early in the morning for me to figure that out). Try another one from a wrecker...
