How much is a respray?

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' started by Kurtis_Strange, Nov 15, 2005.

  1. I've found this bike which is right up my alley at the right price, but the colour scheme looks shite which might be why its going so cheap?

How much would it cost to get it repainted professionally? and does that affect the resale value?
  2. I had my fzr 400 resprayed for just under $300. I dismanteled all the fairings and tank covers and bought it to the panel shop.

As for the resale hmmm not sure mate.
  3. did it look like a new paint job? I mean could you tell the diff?
  4. Depends on what you wanted done bro..

Dont know about the prices in Syd as well. I spent a coupla grand on mine
but mine was a custom paint job (Charmeleon color)

I cant see how it would affect the re-sale value if you are improving
the look of the bike. I would have presumed it would improve ya re-sale

You can tell the owner hasent been cornering on it bc of the rear wheel
    tread

Thats the first thing that needs replacing :p
  5. his chicken strips are bigger than mine
  6.
I would be suprised if that tyre passes a RWC  :p

Duncan, what colour would you rather has it as?
  7. I'd paint it red.

    Whats a RWC?
  8. Having it resprayed could potentially decrease the resale value - many people see a resprayed bike as a sign that it has been stacked, could be difficult to convince them otherwise. Even if a custom respray did increase the resale value it would be unlikely to cover the cost involved.
  9. Road Worthy Certificate
  10. I'd probably use it to trade up anyway, but its something I would need to think about.

There's no way i could ride it looking like it does for too long!
  11. How do you guys think it would stack up against the 00 hornet in terms of performance?
  12. Thats why you have vehicle inspections to find these things out.
Not hard to convince someone it hasent been in an accident if
professionals are saying it hasent. I would put more trust in what
an independent person says than anything the owner tells me.

If someone has that hardline kind of view & they know the bike has
been re-sprayed, why would they make the effort to see the bike to
begin with? So the situation therefore wouldnt arise where you have
to convince someone of their incorrect thinking.

True what you said about re-sale value about custom spray, but
tell me whenever does the sale value of any vehicle ever cover all
the expenses you've had on it, whether it be a car or a bike?
  13. Personally I don't think the yellow/teal combination is all that bad, certainly a lot better than this (fine example of how respraying can devalue a bike)
  14. That one cracks me up, especially when someone added the "if Ronald McDonald rode a bike" comment
  15. PMSL @ link

No arguments from there JD.. That bike is absolutely disgusting ewwwwwwwwwwwww
  16. yeah well no argument there.

Something is up with this bike though...its not the same shape as the other 04 CBR600F's I am looking at, eg this pic http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/148520/

See how the headlights are different?
Is there more than one type of CBR600F?
  17. your a sick man even knowing where to find a urine colored bike like that
is there something your not tewlling us JD ? :p
