How do I store my bike for a few months?

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by Doch, Feb 9, 2007.

  1. I have to put my 750 up on blocks for about 10 months. I was wondering if anyone has some advice on what preperation I should do for its hybernation?

  2. Well if high performance 2-stroke engines that run on methanol and nitro are anything to go by you should fill it up with automatic transmission oil, then plug up the exhaust and intake to stop any moisture entering the engine.

I don't think this would work on a 4-stroke because then you would have ATF in the engine sump that you wouldn't be able to get out? Just normal engine oil? The oil isn't the most important part, just make sure you plug the intake and exhaust so that no moisture can enter.
  3. Just check on an American or Canadian riders site. They mothball their bikes each winter*

(* Unless said bike is a Ural or CJ outfit, and may have 2WD)
