Honda accessory seats

Discussion in 'Modifications and Projects' at netrider.net.au started by Kimberley, Aug 27, 2015.

  1. So I was watching something on YouTube about the Honda CB300F on the Honda Powersports Canada channel. The guy narrating the thing said that if the stock seat is too high, there is an accessory seat that is narrower and over an inch lower that can be used instead. Is this available in Australia as well? And is it available for any other bikes, that you know of?

[I tried to find a thread about this today but have no luck finding it again tonight].

  2. I know Yamaha do comfort seats for some of their bikes, and of course BMW offer a low seat for many models. Simply ring a Honda dealer and ask about your model.
If you are having trouble reaching the ground you can get your existing seat narrowed and sculpted at the front if no factory option is available.
The downside to that is most seat builders will simply remove foam from the seat, and that can be uncomfortable on longer rides.

There are imho better solutions. Some bikes depending on their ground clearance can have a suspension dog bone link fitted that lowers them and if that changes the steering angle markedly, you could also fit shorter front springs to a fork.

Another even more simple solution, if you ride in the same boots each time you ride is getting a bootmaker to fit a small rubber sole to the bottom of your riding boots, which has the added benefit of making you look taller to all the boys when you are off the bike.

There are plenty of options, and there would be very few bikes that couldn't be lowered one way or another, you just have to look at cost (if your noob bike, will you have it for long) and practicality.
