help! removing light scratches/marks on helmet?

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' at netrider.net.au started by agro nick, Oct 11, 2008.

  1. hi all,

i gave my shoei a good clean the other day (massive build up of bugs/dirt), however I didnt notice until it dried that there are some very fine swirly marks all over it now (you can only notice it when light reflects off it).

is it possible to buff these out in some way?

    (im such a newbie lol)

  2. use a grinder.
  3. Helmet manufactures recommend that you DON'T use products or chemicals to clean the surface of your helmet.
However if you must, Meguiars Quik Wax will do the job. The wax is gentle and has lots of fillers that will hide those swirl marks. Make sure you use a really soft cloth that has no particles on it. I used it on my Shoei a couple of times and it brings the paint back to life. The stuff smells really good too
  4. Tear me down in flames for saying this....

I have given my helmet a gentle cut and polish

All markes were removed and it looked brand spanking new

Until I wacked it against the edge of a brick wall

    It's a silver shoei
