Helmet Squish

Discussion in 'Welcome Lounge' started by AnnaRaci-Babi, Apr 13, 2015.

  1. Recently found out that helmets should be really tight to absorb impact. I could I have been riding for all those years w/ my comfy loose helmet and not know this?!

  2. I'd prefer firm to loose. Too many ways for your brains to get shunted.
  3. I don't understand how people wear loose helmets. My head bounces around inside. :blackeye:
  4. Before I bought my first helmet I read that the helmet should be comfortable but firm, contacting the head all around. The cheek pads should slightly give a 'chipmunk' feeling and once the chin-strap is fastened, the helmet should not be able to lifted away from the head. The only advice given to me was to try as many helmets on as possible before deciding to purchase.
  5. How often have you crashed, doesn't matter if you don't break rule number one...
