Hello! My first ride

Discussion in 'New Riders and Riding Tips' at netrider.net.au started by s2ksimon, Jun 19, 2005.

  1. Just wanted to say hello and tell you about my first ride on Saturday!

I passed my learners (VIC) a few weekends ago, this weekend I hired a Virago and my mate hired a Bandit and we went for our first ride on the road. Picked the bikes up in the city and headed to Gisborne, then on to Werribee, Altona, Emerald, Ringwood, back to the city. It was a great day, covered about 350km and achieved a few firsts:

Riding on the road with cars
    Riding on the freeway
    Riding on the Westgate

So all I need now is to buy my own bike and gear!

  2. Welcome s2ksimon!

Sounds like you had a ripper of a ride!

Good work with geting out and braving the traffic! :D

Look forward to seeing you at Friday night coffee next!

  3. Welcome to the madness of the forum, glad you enjoyed your first ride.
Just imagine how it will feel on a bike of your own. :D
  4. Hi s2ksimon , welcome . Can i suggest you buy your gear first then your bike with whats left over. Enjoy the freedom :D .
  5. agreed...

    Cheers 8)
  7. Welcome mate and enjoy yourself.. Whatever you do, dont skimp on the gear mate. Get it all, pants, jacket, gloves, boots and decent helmet. Hope you never come off, but be safe out there. Too many adopt the wrong attitude when it comes to suiting up.
  8. Congrats on getting your licence s2ksimon. Good luck in finding a bike that suits you and welcome to the forums :)

Thoroughly endorse what the guys and gals have said.
I've been riding for over 30 years and there's nothing like it. I still remember my first ride after I got my licence.
Came straight home, took my "L" plates off and rode up and down Macquarie Pass, how mad is that???
  14. Hi and congrats!
    Ain't riding a buzz?
  15. Howdy and welcome.....
