Heat shield on the 2007 600RR

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by zxparker, Aug 13, 2007.

  1. hey guys,

Just doing some work on my 600RR and have been advised by the Honda shop in Ringwood that you can safely remove the heat shield between the pipe and the duck tail on the bike. True or False?

They did say that if you were worried then you could get some heat shield tape to tape up above the pipe, but they said with a after market pipe that doesnt fill the whole space under the pillion seat that the heat shield is not necessary. Will it damage wires and stuff under there if I remove it?

  2. I have an acrkra pipe on mine, heat shield is removed
  3. Yeah most aftermarket pipes for it involve taking the head shield off.
  4. I have a two brothers pipe and in the install instructions it suggested leaving the heat shield in, it looks ugly as though so I have taken it off and just wanted to know if this would cause an issue. Sounds like it should be fine though.
  5. I have a Akrapovic pipe too and its gone.
