GS500 - fit he bikini fairing or no?

Discussion in 'Bike Reviews, Questions and Suggestions' started by tirian, Sep 22, 2009.

  1. Hi guys,

I have recently started commuting on a GS500 from the Mornington Peninsula each day to the Melbourne CBD – using Eastlink and the Monash.

The headwind going north on Eastlink and west on the Monash is *sometimes* strong. I bought my bike second hand and it came with a bikini fairing which I have never fitted. I’m looking for advise on three things:

    1. How much protection is a bikini fairing likely to give from wind buffeting?
    2. Where can I get replacement bolts that join the sides of the fairing to the headlight mount as I seem to have misplaced them! :(
    3. Do you think the fairing looks so bad that I should stop thinking about using it?!?!

  2. Just googled it...

    looks gross.

How fast are you going? I didn't really notice the wind up until about $1.30 when I had mine.
