  1. Greetings All,

    Happy New Year.

I am a long time lurker at Netrider, browsing the forums and getting a feel for the biking community.

After years of wanting to ride a motorcycle, the riding bug has really bitten me hard so I have finally taken the first steps into getting a license -taking lessons with an accredited trainer.

Generally I am a head man, but heart has won this round. I know my physical limitations, and the lessons have proven them correct. I am a complete unko on the bike, with a few sphincter clenching moments already. Head says with more training I can get better. Head also says I should plan for a major fall.

TBH I am not sure how far I will progress on the license. Hopefully to full license.

There are so many competing claims on time, money and GF factor, that getting a bike will be a major achievement. In the meantime it is one step at a time, getting my L's.

    Welcome to NR.

I think most people start out feeling very unko, however, start small and work your way up. You'll soon be riding around without too many issues. You never stop learning tho...

  3. It sounds like you do have the "right attitude" for riding.
    I think you'll be fine.

Definitely come to Sat practice, you'll learn heaps (even if you don't have a bike yet).

But if there would be only 1 thing I had to advice about riding it would be: never push yourself no matter how much pressure you have.

  4. Welcome!

Just think - this is the worst it's ever going to be :) you'll only get better from here.

    Good Luck!

  5. Thanks all.

The Saturday's practice sounds nice. I will definitely make an effort to come once I get the basic down pat and on my L.
