GPX 250 - delayed start

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by lornetkowiec, Feb 18, 2009.

  1. My ever reliable 07 gpx has up until now has started first time every time, but recently it has begun to delay and not kick over or do a thing for a good 10 seconds from when I press the ignition. The reds are on as normal but its just silence...Thankfully it starts after this delay and rides fine but I'm worried eventually it will not start at all...

Does anyone know what this could be? I have another 1200ks til 12K service
  2. Have you tried giving it a little bit of throttle when you start it?

Or have you tried using a bit of choke?
  3. yeah I always give it a bit of choke & use a bit of throttle but still nothing for a good 10secs or so then it just kicks over
  4. Sparkies (replace)

Air filter (check for obstructions / clean if necessary)

    Battery (check voltage)

Valve Clearance (Adjust to loose end of range)

Yep, time for the 12,000kms major service. :p
