GPS tracker wiring, struggle starting bike

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by tommytee, Jan 29, 2014.

  1. Hey guys, I installed a GPS tracker to my kawasaki ninja,
But I wired it to the battery but it's always on.
I wanted to know where the ignition cable Is so it's not always charging only when the bike is on.
    Thanks guys

  2. Easiest wire to find would be your tail light, it's only on when the bikes on.

  3. Depending on it's power consumption... you might be able to pull power from the rear license plate light

Yes tail light is probably the go but I would use an automotive relay to isolate the load from your light circuit.

    <Battery>----<fuse>-------(Ignition Switch)--------------(Taillight)

    \-<fuse>--------------------------------------------<Relay>-----------(GPS)
