GPS Mobile Phone Tracking

Discussion in 'The Pub' started by V2, Aug 5, 2008.

  1. I often ride on twist mountain roads and sometimes worry that if I went over the edge, there is a good chance no-one would ever find me again. Watching the USA TV shows, they make it look like mobile phones can be used to track you, which would be handy. Anyone know if this is actually possible. Found the attached link which looks like its on that track, but not quite there? http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/commun...ture/0,130061791,339284173,00.htm?feed=pt_gps

  2. you would still need a mobile signal, at which point they could pinpoint you closely enough anyway.
  3. Bear in mind, of course, that some particularly twisty/mountainous areas have no mobile reception at all.
  4. just tell someone before you leave where you are going.....i can see the reasons, for the idea but no farking way i want some system tracking where i ride :)
