Good bike mechanic in Canberra - ACT

Discussion in 'Businesses and Service Providers' started by Ghibli, Jun 16, 2006.

  1. Hi everybody
I am looking for a good bike mechanic in the ACT/Queanbeyan area for some work on my CBR250R. Riders in the area could you pls let me know of any good mechanics you know of.
    Thanks!

  2. Hi all,

I am also looking for a good bike mechanic in Canberra. A workshop in Phillip would be preferable, given that I work in the area.

Any recomendations would be highly appreciated.

  3. not sure if they are still there but the best mechanic IMHO is/was bruces in mitchell.
i have since relocated to the south coast and lost touch with canberra trade.
  4. Thanks for the tip!
I know where the shop is and I'll check them out.
    Safe riding.
    Cheers
  5. I'd recommend Bruce's in Mitchell as well.
  6. For 5-6 years I have always found Wayne and the crew at the Canberra Motorcycle Centre to be excellent and extremely helpful.

Have also used Bruce's and he is excellent too.
  7. There will be a new business opening in Queanbeyan in the very near future that will be doing servicing of all bikes & quads, as well as accessories such as cruise controls & intercoms. There will also be courses run to give riders the ability to maintain their own bikes between services. As more details come to light i will post them. Hopefully he will become a member & advertise on this website. You will be dealing directly with the mechanic doing the work.
  8. Ask him if he needs an unqualified, but highly mechanically experienced offsider/ assistant/ counter sales/ jack of all trades on his staff for me please!
More than willing to undertake a mature age apprenticeship if need be, have Job Network card (so he gets my wage subsidised!).

    Regards, Andrew.
  9. Joes out in Fyshwick are good - get Jamie (if hes still there) - hes excellent. But this was about 5 years ago so I dont know if they are even there anymore. He did a tonne of work on my 1100S Katana and serviced my TLR (to start with - see below).

But the guy you want for your sports bike is Rick Miller. He works (used to - about 5 years since I lived in Canberra) from his house - has a garage out the back. Hes a proper race mechanic and I have never had a better service that what he does - ever! Talk about thorough - this is your man. He lives down Holder way. If hes still doing services you would be crazy to take your bike elsewhere. Id probably only bother with newish sports bikes as it wouldnt really be worth taking your banger to him. Dont remember his number - could probably ride there though. ;) Ask around - plenty of people know him.
  10. Rick's expensive.

For Phillip, try Axle's. They're in Belonna court. Axle's a good bloke, used to be a Ducati specialist. His mechanic is good and if you tell him specifics, he'll make notes and get it done.
