Geelong to Mildura

Discussion in 'Hazardous Road Condition Reports' started by simon varley, Jan 16, 2011.

  1. off on a work trip Geeling-Mildura-Port Augusta-Coober Pedy-Alice Springs tomorrow. Vic Roads still has the Sunraysia Highway closed between Donald and StArnaud so I guess we'll be making detours. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of current conditions in NW Vic?

  2. Friend came back from Adelaide (to Melbourne) today... started yesterday, and was forced to go all the way via Albury.
  3. cheers mate. should be 'interesting'
  4. Talk that the Western Highway at Horsham may well go under today??
  5. Go via Shepparton, Tocumwal, Finley, Deniliquin, Moulamein, Kyalite, Balranald then Mildura.

Or use the Princes Hwy (with detours around Camperdown) to South Australia.
  6. well, we made it to Mildura with no major issues (Avoca-Donald-Ouyen-Mildura). It's very wet, and there is still water over the roads in places but it's perfectly passable. the highway at Donald had only just dried out and it was very sad to see so many houses had been damaged, but heartening to see that people still have a sence of humour. there were a couple of tinnies moored out in the paddocks with scarecrow fishermen in them.....

funniest sight was the diving board in Donald swimming pool sticking up out of the floodwaters.
