Geelong - Great ocean road

Discussion in 'Roads, Touring, Journeys, and Travel' started by jphanna, Jun 1, 2012.

  1. Guys we live in adelaide and want to do great ocean road on mbikes. what we DONT want to do is the boring slog from adelaide to melbourne on our mbikes.

if we were to use out mbikes we would rather relax on the train from adelaide an just ride from geelong to great ocean road.

just out of interest.....does anyone know if you can hire mbikes at geelong? lots of places hire scooters....but MBIKES is what we want.

    can anyone offer advice?
  2. I agree a lot of the routes across are boring. The least boring would be the coastal route along the Coorong crossing the Murray by ferry rather than the boring Murray Bridge route. This is my favourite when heading for SA on bike. Also crossing the heads here by Ferry if you are going to head for Melbourne to avoid the mind numbing tedium of the Geelong rd. Then swing up through Pakenham and either inwards on onwards.

Garners are probably the biggest bike hire place in Melbourne. So you could train it to Melbourne and then hire. But do the road trip, its good for the soul. :)
