Gear Lever Adjustment Yahama Virago 250

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by RickyRock, Apr 18, 2011.

  1. Just got my Yamaha Virago 250. Gear Lever was ok with smaller boots. Got thicker boots, not enough space between foortrest & gear lever. Can anyone please teach me how to adjust gear lever ?

  2. There'll be a bolt on the lever. Remove the bolt and then pull the lever off. Remember the angle it was at before you remove it so you can put it back in the same spot if you need to. Put the lever back on at the angle you want and then put the bolt back on.

Sometimes the lever will be a little stuck after you've removed the bolt. It may need some...careful manipulation with a mallet.
  3. Don't just remember MARK it. LIke a line though the gear shift spline and gear shit. It will usually just be one up. mmm Sorry the gear lever is on a spline like this * but more so. So move it just up one notch on the spline. :)
  4. Thanks DJay & Brett. Problem sorted.
