Front Pad Bed in time ? - CBX250

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' at netrider.net.au started by kazjim, Jun 6, 2005.

  1. Hey all, i replaced the pads on the front of my (borrowed) CBX250 ....

On the ride to work this morning (90klm) it was still dragging, not as bad as when i left this morning, but still very noticable... like the front brake was "just" on ....I used a LOT more fuel than normal.. ..like twice the amount !!

I know it takes a few klm in my Mini to bed new pads in there, but what sort of milage should i expect before they are free and happy again ?

    Cheers all, appreciated
  2. woah
    you have a problem here
the front brakes irrespective of what sorta pad..new or used
    should NOT stay on
I would suggest you have a hydraulic or caliper problem with
your front brakes that has been exacipated by the new pads
..front piston is stuck or the piston seal is shite
or the master cylinder is not releasing

have a look yourself or get someone with some brake experience
to check it out...its not right

    oh and front pads..bedding in?
about 10 (max) stops ..medium to hard
and then it all cool down and you are done.

  3. Just a quick Follow-up ....

    Rebuilt the caliper last night....
The top piston was sticking (as Smitty pointed out -- BIG THANKS !)

Stops on a dime now, these EBC Pads are fantastic....

    Cheers all
