front brake/throttle problem, will shorty levers help?

Discussion in 'New Riders and Riding Tips' started by Caz V1, Mar 1, 2009.

  1. I've had my eye on an FZ1 for a few months now, but after riding one at work a few times, I have had trouble when using the front brake.....
whenever I pull in the front brake lever, I seem to be rolling on the throttle at the same time I squeeze the lever. :?
I've also had the same thing happen with a couple of other bigger bikes I've had the chance to ride. I must have small hands.
Anyway, my question is, will shorter levers help my issue, and if not, how can I overcome this problem, it's putting me off upgrading :(

  2. Have you tried adjusting the reach on the standard lever?
  3. when you have a full grip of the throttle the gap distance between the lever and your fingers should be about 1-2 cm.. so adjust it accordingly.. not so far you have to stretch out your fingers full length to grab the levers.
