Forward controls

Discussion in 'Riding Gear and Bike Accessories/Parts' started by KAOS FROM KURRI, Sep 5, 2015.

  1. Just Purchased a near New Yamaha Bolt R Spec 950cc
    it as 3,**** on it.
Feeling quite cramped with mid mount foot pegs,
Any suggestions to move the forward greatly appreciated.
Rang Local Yamaha Dealer Greame Boyd (Newcastle)
and the have a forward relocation Kit (Yamaha Factory)
will move pegs 2 inches forward for a cost of $606.00
Not great value for money, so SS Customs, in the USA
have a Kit which moves pegs and Controls forward 4.5 inches
    for (aud) $315.00
    Know which one I'm getting,lol
Also I'm only averaging 160 to 170 K's per Main Tank?
    is this normal ?
I run Vance&Hines Short Shot Pipes and V&H air filter.

  2. I have a Honda shadow 750 and I get an average of 230 per tank before going to reserve
I too would like new forward controls and handlebars as I feel a little crap while riding
  3. I believe your Honda Shadow has a somewhat Larger tank Troy ,
I'm sure shadow's already came with forward controls as standard ?
Handlebars, there are heaps on eby at a good price, just check an make sure you get the correct size diameter for the Bars
then its a simpe matter of choosing what makes you comfortable, be aware though if you go too High or too wide you may need extended Cables
    Brake lines.
  4. Quite confusing attempting to navigate this Site must say.
I will persaviere and see if i can get the hang of it though
lots of interesting stuff read so far.
  5. The Bolt has a tiny tank and a 950cc engine - fuel range isn't one of it's strong points. As to feeling cramped - I take it you didn't test ride it before you bought it....
  6. Test ride was for all of 10 minutes, Mick
Def will be looking for a larger tank to retrofit.
  7. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
