Forward Controls - Massive Price Difference??? XVS650

Discussion in 'Cruisers' at netrider.net.au started by austy, Jun 25, 2009.

  1. Evening :)

I'm chasing forward controls for my bike and am a tad weary of price differences...

Scootmods forward controls - $119 USD (Approx $150 AUD) shipped to my door. These are just the plates and rods necessary to move the standard footboards forward:

Tech Glide through Z Power - $989 AUD plus shipping These are full new pegs etc.

Evidently they're not exactly apples to apples... but an $800 price difference?

Has anyone used these products? Or can anyone recommend a different option?

  2. hi mate,

the scoot mods are just the plate to move your existing floor boards forward.

The other ones are a complete new pedal as well and I see they are Italian which for some reasons usually ads extra to the price.

Scoot mods seems to be very popular and he has great feed back. I am currently investigating as well and learning towards Scoot mods. For the price difference you could just about get some new jardine slip-on exhausts as well
  3. As some people here know I have bought the Scootmods extensions and have no problems recommending them to anyone.

Yes they are just plates to move existing pedals so if you dont like the look of your pedals now that won't change.

But for the price I'm more than happy as the comfort difference moving the controls forward is significant.

I bought these originally to see how much difference they make but am very happy with them and would recommend both them and the service I got from Joe at Scootmods.

Any questions shoot me an email and I'll help if I can.

    cheers Goran
  4. I just bought the 4" extensions for my Custom from ScootMods, just waiting on delivery. Ill let you and everyone else know how they go. :)

As for the different, like the others said, the scootmod ones are just plates, screws and rods. If you could be bothered, and didn't want to spend so much money, I would just measure up what you need and get it machine over here in Australia. It would probably cost half of what would cost to buy it from Scoot mods - just depents if you can be f*cked doing it.

Here is a useful tutorial if you want to check out doing it for yourself, backyard style haha, or it could be helpful for planning the instructions to give to your machinist. http://www.650ccnd.com/floor.htm

    Good luck.
