Flat battery - 900amp Jumper Starter

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by I'm Simon, Aug 4, 2010.

  1. Hi guys,

I have a flat battery on the GSX750F and have found that we have a 900amp jumper starter at work that the guys use to jump start the cars if need be, would this be ok to use to jump start the bike?

Sorry if this has been asked before.
  2. Yes this should be OK. Jump starting is different to charging. In charging with large automotive chargers you have to worry about overcharging the battery. Jump starting you should be able to connect, start, then disconnect and the bike will look after its own charging when it is running.

    Good Luck.
  3. Should be fine. The starter motor will draw what it needs. 900 Amps is what the box can deliver as a maximum. It doesn't mean it will stuff 900 Amps through your windings .
  4. Thanks Chris and Pat...will give it a crack.
  5. Perhaps try the good old fashioned push start first?
