fixing puncture in tires with tubes

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by Yudi, Aug 25, 2016.

  1. Hi all,

Just a quick question, got a nail stuck in the back tire (only 300km old) with an inner tube.
I am taking it into the service center to get the tube swapped.
What I want to know is, are they going to seal up the hole in the tire? I am guessing they will otherwise debris can get in.

On my push bike I usually just swap the tube out and stick a patch of the old tube on the inside of the tire to cover the hole.
    What about motorcycle tyres?

  2. I suspect when they pull the nail out, you will struggle to find where it went in. So, no, I doubt they will.
  3. It will be easy to find where the tYre was pierced, and they will put a plug in that hole, and finish the job with a new tube
  4. Hope they plug it, it's a brand new tire. I left the nail in there, makes it easy to identify.

Might pay to put a second nail in beside it in case the first one comes out.
