  1. Hi everyone
my seat latch is released via the ignition
my question is how do you get the seat to lock again

Mate we had the same problem in reverse and after numerous beers ended up pulling the bike down and removing the cable from the ignition block and operating it manually.
It was a roadstar 1600 but the method is still the same.
The latch will remain open until the seat is replaced:this can only happen if the key is released and returned to the off position.
I would in your case use a liberal amount of WD40 or simillar on the latch mechanism and click it shut by hand a couple of times to make sure it is free.
Locate the rear of the seat correctly and then push down firmly and sharply on the front it should after lube click shut properly.
    good luck Reggie

  3. Thanks for the reply mate
I had a new key mechanism fitted and the seat unlocks and locks ( my local bike shop made some adjustments )
the XVS 1600 is a Roadstar to the best of my knowledge
