Fitting oil control rings to259 Across pistons

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' at netrider.net.au started by grimsboy, Jun 6, 2015.

  1. Hi guys, can anyone help me with this .I am attempting to fit new rings to my 250f across and find that fitting the corrugated oil ring between the two very thin rings is almost impossible, is there a special method that anyone knows of. many thanks in advance

  2. Try fitting the corrugated part first followed by the two thin rings, one from the bottom of the piston and the other from the top. This is how it is described in many engine rebuild manuals.
They also say to make sure that the gaps of the rings do not line up ( normally 120degrees apart).
Have a look on Google for more info as this is just off the top of my head.
