Fight About RTW Motorcycle Record

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' at netrider.net.au started by dan, Aug 22, 2005.

"So far, the RTW (Round The World) motorcycle riders have been doing their thing more or less without bothering each other. That has now changed !

The Round The World world record attempts has now reached a stage where two of the participants are having it out.... a war of words and press releases.

Both are English, and both are named Sanders (but not related). Here's what is happening:

Nick Sanders {link} claims a RTW record of 19 days and 3 hours on his Yamaha R1 motorcycle (his attempt is being made in a mini TV series).

Kevin and Julia Sanders ({link} the current Guinness World record holders) claim 19 days and 8 hours on their BMW R1150GS motorcycle.

So, in theory Nick should have the record. But now the fight has really started. Kevin and Julia claim that their ride was without breaks (ie consecutive days), while Nick's attempt was over a period of 2 months, broken up in chunks. "

    Photos here too
  2. Just had a look, Nick Sanders doesn't count.

It actually took him almost 2 months. (23rd of May to 14th of July)

The other guys did it in one go.

Guiness world records will sort him out no problems.

  3. personally i'd rather set the longest record, way too much to see. ahhh if only i had the cash
