  2. Hm possibly interested - also note that this ride is conducted under police escort
  3. Considering the cause, that's not surprising.
  4. I would, but its like going into the lions den.
Wonder how many defects get handed out that day

The geelong toy run has police manning intersections most of the way from geelong to queenscliff. done the last 2 and not heard of any bike inspections. have noticed a radar or 2 on way home but nothing else. several of the cops actually mingled at the bbq and were admiring bikes

Same deal HB. I've done this ride the last 2 years running. It's good value, riders from other states, cool bikes to ogle. It's a good fundraiser. The year before last the funds actually went to the hospital for some much needed equipment (country hospital). Had about 400 riders and its all good fun. The route changes each year, nice roads :)

Actually thinking about taking the trek out for this ride. Will be and 8hr day of riding there and back for me and a few mates if there willing.

Do you need to register before the ride or can you register at the Arts Centre on the day.
  8. You can just register on the day. I normally head up the night before then head back the next day after the ride. There's a brochure on the website too
  9. No worries will have a look, thanks

Orgainsing to leave from Werribee/ Wyndham Vale @ 7am to get there in time to register. Just waiting to see who of my mates are interested.

Got home from this ride a little while ago. Not taking anything away from other "rides for a cause" but have to say this was one of the best organised I have been on. As well as corner markers there were also marshalls at some intersections and corners that could be troublesome at speed.

Plus have the boys in blue stop traffic for you always goes down well. Was having such a good time only managed to take some photos at the morning tea stop @ Lake Bolac.

I had misty rain from Meredith until just after the start of the main ride in Ararat but not enough to bother with wet weather gear. All up around 550kms door to door for me.

The weather improved after morning tea, and was quite warm by our bbq lunch stop.

  13. I gather you are joking because of the discussion in the learner rider thread.

Actually there was not much of that went on. The corner & dangerous spot markers went on ahead of the group and most of them then just stayed at the end of the pack when the recovery vehicle & police car bringing up the rear caught up to them.

There were not many people that overtook within the group either. Most were happy to just follow the line. This meant there wasn't the usually rubber band effect you get on the larger group rides. I don't think there would have been anyone who never had riders in their sight throughout the ride.

  14. looks like a big group was there many hugs?
  15. There was a lot of hugging going on, especially amongst the "show & shine" winners.

I never collected any :( but I understand you are infamous for them :D .

  16. It was lacking a little in that area l feel. Perhaps next year you could come up and give the group some instruction...?

Yeah it was a shame; l'll check to see how many turned up. Usually there's 300-400, nowhere near that this time. The route wasn't as scenic as usual but still a good ride. Shame its not on the Saturday. HB & l rode back together and stopped off for coffee at Bannockburn; good ride home too :)

pretty sure it was him an his buddy that passed me near beaufort. they were chatting to other riders when i fueled up at the shell in ararat.
