F4i - Aftermarket air filter

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by Haggismaen, Oct 16, 2007.

  1. Hi all,

My 12K service is coming up and it's air filter replacement time.
Now considering the stock filter is going to set me back about $85, I'm looking at getting an aftermarket reusable one (like K&N/BMC or something similar).

I'm not looking for any performance gain and don't want to change the mixture in anyway that would cause the need for a remap etc, just looking to save some cash in the long run. Also, the bike is completely stock at the moment.

    No? Yes? Kittens?
  2. Bung a k&n on it. Technically yes it will give better performance as it will increase airflow, but theres definitely no need to remap!
  3. You need to do some model specific research. Some FI bikes are badly effected by washable filters, such that they need remapping to make them ridable or to prevent damage.

I think the SV650 is an example of this.

You will probably OK, as Honda tend to set a bit rich from the factory anyway, but check on some cbr/honda sites
