Extractor glowing red...

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by matty__, May 7, 2007.

  1. Hi,

Just put the stock exhaust on my WR400 for rego and i took it for a ride around the block and left it on idle for a few mins and noticed the extractor red hot.. Turned it off and dissapears.

Any reason for this? Is it normal? I was going for blue slip tomorrow and everything keeps going wrong :(

any help appreciated on why this could be..

  2. usually on a car this is caused by lean fuel mixture or retarded cam timing. was the bike tuned to suit the other pipe you had on it?
  3. Caused by a RICH mixture, late ignition timing or exhaust valves not seating correctly, as the fuel is still burning in teh exhaust system.

    Regards, Andrew.
  4. I say it's pretty normal. The steel on these pipes is pretty thin and it gets bl@@dy hot. Dont forget stainless pipes go blue near the head/s from the heat.
