  1. Hey Guy's,

Does anyone (in Melb) have an oxy/acetylene torch I can use for 5 min over the weekend?..... I'll pay.

I've shortened my suspension springs to give them a stronger spring rate, I just need to heat the last coil to bend it down.

Anyone that wants to do the mod, just PM me and I'll give you the low-down.

    Regards, John

J-O, from what I remember of materials engineering way back in first year, heating steel tends to make its properties worse (for instance if you had a grade 400 steel and heated it then chances are the part you heated and its surroundings will drop back to a grade 250 steel). You may stuff the properties/stiffness of at least part of your spring by doing what you propose. Cutting and bending is the way to go - not heating.

Read again what I am doing, done it heaps of times, worked perfectly everytime, I'm not heating the whole spring! Thanks.
