do you think its the spark plugs?

  1. trying to start my xr600r 1985 today for the 1st time in about a 2 months.

trying to clucth start it, and the engine starts to go but then it seems to lack the power to keep going. (does this make sense).

do u think it culd be the spark plugs not sparking up or what ever it is they do?
  2. Not being started in a couple of months could even be the battery. That would be my 1st thing to check.
  3. I think you will find that the battery being flat won’t affect starting on an early XR.

My guess would be stale fuel or the carby needs cleaning.
Also check that the breathers hose is clear, I once bought an XR500 for $500 because it wouldn’t run longer than a couple of minutes, turned out to be a wasp nest in the breather hose. Cleaned it out and the bike ran like a new one.
