Disc problems (Disc Brake)

Discussion in 'Scooters' started by jigme, Feb 8, 2006.

  1. Hi
I wore my discbrake pads down in 3500km's.
The shop said it's normally 6k and they need replacing.
I put this down to the emergency stopping practice I did when I was going for my P's.
I think I fudged my disc up a bit cos I rode it for a few days with the pads worn down  Won't even considering thinking about doing that ever again...
My bike shop is pretty useless so I thought I'd ask here.

If the brakes are squeaking, and sometimes, around tight left corners it makes a bit of brake noise (not squeel, but more of a .. Almost grinding sound) should I think about replacing the Disc? Or will this disc eventually smoothen out and all problems go away?
    What's a disc worth?

    Cheers!
  2. Check my recent thread under maintenance and talk to max at perfect discs. He should be able to machine it.

  3. Cheers. Will do tomorrow. Should I say anyone referred me?
  4. Can tell him Caspar sent you ... probably wont get you a discount but it might get me one next time for sending some business his way

Standard price is $75 per disc if they are badly scored.
