Destroyed Sump plug thread

    Changing the engine oil and I overdid the tightening of the oil sump bolt, so now the thread on the sump plug is destroyed.

    Does anyone know anyone who would be able to repair the thread for me for a reasonable amount?

    Looking for somewhere in western sydney.

  2. buy yourself a tap and die set, not that expensive, supercheap has them, just make sure the set has the size u need

    Thats a common job at most motorcycle workshops so i'm told..lots of home 'mechanics' strip out threads.
    Did the same thing years ago before i invested in a torque wrench..LOL

    I use Western Motorcycles & Mick Dyre Motorcycles ,there both at Penrith & do very good work.
    Just ph them ask for a price for a helicoil repair to the sump plug.
