  1. Danny Thompson Breaks His Dad’s 48-Year-Old Family Bonneville Record

    Danny Thompson, son of the legendary hot-rodder Micky Thompson, has broken the world land speed record which eluded his father over forty years ago, breaking the magic 400 miles per hour barrier in a wheel-driven car powered by a normal engine. Congratulations are certainly in order! This mark elevates the LSR for wheel-driven vehicles above Donald Campbell's 403.1 mph, set here in Australia at the same time Danny's dad was attempting his runs with Challenger 1. Campbell's car, it should be noted, while wheel-driven, was powered by an aircraft gas turbine engine...

  3. Driving bespoke vehicles at those speeds on salt flats, yes, I reckon so!!!
  4. must have a good steering damper, reckon it would be possible to highside that with a flick of the wrist without one
