Crate to the Eights

Discussion in 'Racing, Motorsports, and Track Days' started by dan, Aug 19, 2005.

  1. "How long does it take to build a quick drag bike? These guys took a stock Hayabusa out of the crate and in less than 8 hours made a pass in the 8’s. For their “Crate to the Eights” challenge they actually uncrated the bike at the dragstrip and did all of the work right there. After doing the initial setup to stock condition and breaking it in on a dyno where it recorded 167hp, they took it out and ran a 9.9 and then a 9.77, nice numbers to start. The crew descended on the bike and in less than 7 hours of work got it into the 8’s. All the usual parts you would expect were used including a DynoJet Power Commander, a bottle of boost and of course a very good rider."

  2. What took them so long????

Seriously, imagine what they could have done if they had had more time!!!

Those drag bikes make SERIOUS horsepower. Indeed, the major problem these days is how to get that power onto the track effectively.

Thanks for that, that is an amazing story.
  3. Mmm...rip your arms off time...
  4. Bit of a stretch of the truth.

They would have done days/weeks of work and planning getting all the stuff together.

There also would have been a fair bit of research time into know what works on a Busa

    Still would have been fun
