Clutch cable replacement - ZZR 250

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by Lachlan56, Dec 20, 2008.

  1. Hey guys.

Riding to work yesterday the clutch cable snapped, right around where it joins into the lever. I managed to get the bike home alright and I had a look at it today, the cable seems fairly straight forward to replace, but I can't tell where it actually runs as it dissapears under the fuel tank.

Am I right to think that
1: The fairings don't actually need to come off
2: I DO need to remove the fuel tank (seems to be just 3 bolts for removal)
3: Where the cable actually connects to the clutch is fairly straight forward and doesn't require any special tools.

I want to buy a new cable on Monday and was hoping to replace it myself. Is it easy enough to do?
  2. Right 3 times. Do it carefully, and take your time. Do you know how to adjust the cable, once it is fitted?
  3. heres a trick for cables/wires if you dont know where they go.
Tie a piece of string to one end and then pull the cable out so the string takes the cables place.
you have just left a visible line of where that cable just went.

you can also tie the string back on to the new cable and it should guide its way back to where its meant to be.

    good luck with it.
