Classic Bike?

Discussion in 'Older / Classic Bikes' at netrider.net.au started by slattz, Aug 8, 2016.

  1. This is a picture of my father on a motorcycle around the mid fifties.
Does anyone know what bike it is?
he used to put a bucket of tools on the back and ride to work as it was the only transport he had.

I'm unable to ask him as he's not too well. Cheers

  2. Difficult to say from this angle but, if pushed, I'd say BSA Bantam.
  3. thanks Pat.
Its the only photo I can find
  4. The tank badge looks a little like a Triumph Speed twin. I tried very hard but the pic has virtually not a lot to see. The forks are very light weight and the tyres have an off road look. That's all I got. What about mates or other relos?
  5. The BSA Bantam theory seems quite plausible from the details visible.
My father owned and rode on of those too, but I don't have any photos of his.
  6. thanks for the replys.

unfortunately Dad is not well enough to remember and both my Uncles that he worked with have passed away.
    this is a 1952 Bantam,looks similar.

could it be an ex army bike?
