Choke Cable

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by tjongdy, Aug 24, 2009.

  1. Hi All

The choke cable on my bike (2000 GSF250V) seems to be stuck. I have tried spaying some WD40 down the cable but still nothing.
Is there any tricks to getting it unstuck or do I have get a new one?

  2. As a suggestions sometimes its not the actual cable which is stuck. Just fixed the same issue on a 2001 R1. If your mechanically inclined check where the choke cable connects to the carby, disconnect the cable and try the choke lever. That way you know straight away if its a stuck cable or something else.

In my case it was the choke plunger (every cylinder will have one) was jammed. Removed it and cleaned it up, fixed.

    Good luck.
