VIC Check your Licence expiry date!

Discussion in 'Politics, Laws, Government & Insurance' started by Dazzler, Feb 6, 2014.

  1. Vicroads has neglected to issue licence renewals since sometime in December 2013 it seems.

You may be unknowingly riding unlicenced as a result.

Implications are that you can and will be charged with unlicenced riding/driving, TAC and other vehicle insurance have yet another way to avoid paying in the event of an accident.

  2. Police have said they will penalise anyone using an expired license regardless of the Vicroads stuffup. No excuse for not checking for yourself.
  3. A more suspicious man with tendencies towards conspiracy theories might suggest that it's merely another example of the Government fleecing the sheeple for more money....
  4. This became public yesterday. Some talkback callers were saying they had been fined and demerited for driving unlicensed back in December and January despite protesting about not receiving a renewal notice. In isolation you may just think you or Austpost stuffed up, but now we know that it was in fact the regulator at fault, but we are still to blame for not checking!!
  5. Yes unfortunately the onus is on you, it is the same for registration of vehicles as well. Thanks for the heads up Dazzler.
