Charging system (battery flat all the time).

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by StereoHead, Nov 17, 2006.

  1. So yeah, battery flat again.... Put a new battery in a few days ago because I thought the other one was buggered...

I guess the regulator rectifyer could be stuffed, or the altenator (Does a bike have one?)

Where do I check, and how do I check it?

  2. Get a volt meter, connect it up to the battery. Start the bike. The (charging) voltage should be about 13.5Volt, 13.2Volt minimum. Specific bikes have specific charging systems, but a 12Volt lead acid battery needs about 13.5Volt to be charged.
  3. Get the voltage regulator checked/replaced. On a Honda it's around $170, (otherwise you'll be forever getting a flat battery.....)
