Changing a rectifier/regulator

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' at netrider.net.au started by thecptn, Jul 11, 2007.

  1. My regulator/rectifier has completely carked it..so I think as the voltage remains 12 volts while running and gradually dies down, so ive pinned it down to me reg/rec, how ever, ive never changed one, all i know its on the frame some where, any help? is it a plug and pray thing?

    btw its a Hyosung GT650

    Dont laugh.
  2. Yes tehy usually just plug in.

It could be anywhere on the bike, if you find the stator (generator) you can usually just trace the wires to it. It's a small metal box, often looks like a heatsink.
  3. Aha! now I remember seeing the little thing a while ago! cheers mate!
  4. Hoondah hide them under the ducktail just to the right of the seat.
  5. Suzuki is usuaually near the battery under a side cover. I'm guessing the Hyo being suzuki derived is similar
  6. If you can make a simple duct, or drill a hole near it or something to get some coling air to it, do it if it's buried away. They get hot, and heat kills em.
