chain oil

Discussion in 'Bling and Appearance' started by smiley235, Jul 23, 2007.

  1. I was told by some1 to get this chain oil you can buy from the store to periodically keep the chain lubricated which makes sense. However flicking through the across manual, it specifically says not to use chain oil sold in shops, but to use a heavy car oil instead. Is this the same for all bikes? and in that case, will just plain car oil do (and what is considered heavy).

  2. Yeah get some good quality motorcycle chain specific oil/wax/lube.
using motoroil, it gets flinged up and goes everywhere. Plus you have to do it more often.
  3. It depends on what type of chain is fitted but get the propper stuff and lube it every few hunded k's but dont put to much on or it will be wasted.
  4. cool cool,

    thanks for the re-assurance.
