CBR600RR oil level

Discussion in 'Technical and Troubleshooting Torque' started by tonee, Jul 4, 2010.

  1. Gday

I just picked up an 04 CBR600RR the other day. I was told the last oil change was 3000kms ago but I'd like to perform a fresh one to start my own records.

I had a look in the oil level glass and theres seems to be no idication of oil unless the oil is clear!
The motor was off, raised on the bike stand and there was no black fluid inside. I had dad moving the bike side to side and still nothing.
Theres no low oil pressure warnings on the dash neither.
Maybe the bike is different to my Ninja 250R?

  2. raised on the bike stand?
just hold the bike perfectly vertical on as level ground, no stand.
oil should not be black, that would be bad... oil is on 3k old.
it will be virtually clear, but a golden colour.
clean the little window and get a torch, better light.
  3. yeah it will be a goldeny brown colour. your oil light should switch on if its too low.
find out how much oil it takes and measure it when you drop it out
