CBR250RR won't start

Discussion in 'Maintenance and Servicing' started by christrails, Sep 25, 2012.

  1. Sup,

1992 Honda CBR250RR recently bought and it will only start via jump starting, the bloke rode it over to us and it started fine the day before.

Any insight into this? The bike turns on fine, lights turn on and the engine doesn't even kick over, do you think this is the starter motor or the battery being not charged enough to start?

    Thanks :)

  2. could be the starter relay or solenoid has gone, easy fix in this case
  3. Depends on what happens when you press the starter button. If nothing at all happens, then it could be a dodgy starter button, wiring, kill switch in off position, or faulty solenoid. If you hear a single click from solenoid & your dash lights dim a little, then could be starter motor issue. If solenoid makes a repetitious buzzing noise or dash lights dim dramatically, then it's a flat battery. If it starts with jump start battery, then you have ruled out everything mentioned except battery & charging system.
  4. Jump start as in I rolled the bike and started it.
  5. I think that's called a bump start.
